A BIT ABOUT ME

Antal Koos, Physics Tutor

Science has fascinated me since Primary School, and I’m committed to transmitting my enthusiasm to my students. I believe that learning is exciting and should be enjoyed!

Teaching and learning Physics provides the opportunity to discover and understand the wonders of the world together. I encourage you to ask “Why?”, and using scientific skills and evidence I will help you to reach the answer.

I prefer active learning, using examples from everyday life and practical work. I feel it essential not just to share knowledge, but also to help you understand how to learn. Physics is an evolving subject and we, as tutors and students, must progress with it.  We all learn differently, and I will try to adapt my teaching methods to what will work best for you.

After graduating, I started working as a teacher and greatly enjoyed it. I then had the unexpected opportunity of doing my PhD in Physics. This was followed by 6 years of research at University of Oxford. I worked on interesting nanotechnology projects, focusing mainly on nanomaterials.

Fortunately, I could also work with students.  My job involved student supervision, laboratory exercises and summer project management. During this time I realised how much I missed teaching and so I returned to the role of educator. Since then I have worked at several colleges,  I have taught KS3, IGCSE, A-level and adult students, both from the UK and abroad for more than 10 years.

I also work at established Oxford and Cambridge based on-line colleges for years, I worked with hundreds of online students. They achieved results well above the national average, most of them got A at A-level exam.

I work as A-level Physics examiner, so I know the expectations and can help my students to maximise their marks. I have QTS and PhD in Physics, and I am subscribed to DBS update service.

One-to-one online tutorials

As an online tutor I offer a range of services. If you just need help with a few problems, a complete GCSE or A-level course from scratch, or anything in-between, I can help, so please get in touch.

I worked with many private students with different abilities, age groups and cultural backgrounds. Usually we managed to improve the exam results significantly. Several former students were admitted to prestigious universities.

The tutorials are usually 1 hour long.  I ask students to email me some details (such as the exam board, and what topics they wants to work on) before lessons so that I can prepare specific materials tailored to the student's needs.  In this way, we can maximise the benefit of the learning time.  I can also set and mark homework activities according to a student's needs.
